Corn Silage Moisture Testing Available

The Dodge County Forage Council and UW-Extension will be offering corn silage moisture testing from 11 am to noon on Thursday, September 17, 2009.

Several different remote drop-off locations are available this year including Anglewood Farm at N10082 Hwy A near Fox Lake, Jacobson Farmers Supply on Hwy 49 in Brownsville, the Wiskerchen Farm at W1036 Cty Rd N near Rubicon and the UW -Extension Dodge County Office located at 127 E. Oak Street in Juneau.  Simply bring your samples to any of these four locations on Thursday before noon.  There will be no charge for the moisture testing.

Producers should bring in four corn stalks, cut at their normal harvest height and stored in plastic bags to minimize moisture loss.  Useful information includes: hybrid, maturity and planting date.  Moisture results will be returned by phone the following day.

For additional information, contact Matt Hanson at the Dodge County UW-Extension Office at (920) 386-3790.
